産総研の菊池さんのとこにいた石神さんの論文です。害虫の体内に“共生菌のふり”をして入り込み、内部から殺す新しいタイプの微生物を発見した研究です。この菌も共生菌と同様に「ドリル運動」をして、べん毛を体に巻き付けます。この可視化で私たちは貢献をしました。大学のニュースリリースはこちら。

This is a paper by Ishigami, who was in Kikuchi's group at AIST. The study discovered a new type of microbe that enters the body of a pest insect by "pretending to be a symbiont" and then kills it from the inside. Like the symbiont, this bacterium also shows "drill-like motility," wrapping its flagella around its body. We contributed by visualizing this. The university's news release is here.
