鳥取大の柴田さんと、長崎大の中山先生らの成果が Communications Biology に掲載されました。私は Fig 1 と Fig 2 のお手伝いをしました。滑走運動をする土壌細菌の研究です。体の表面にレールのような構造を発見しました。これを使って戦車のような仕組みで動きます。この細菌が動く動画は YouTube でもご覧になれます。詳細なプレスリリースはこちら。

Work by Shibata at Tottori University, Prof. Nakayama at Nagasaki University, and colleagues has been published in Communications Biology. I helped with Fig 1 and Fig 2. The study is about a soil bacterium that shows gliding motility. We found a rail-like structure on the cell surface, which the bacterium uses to move with a tank-like mechanism.
